Follow these steps to apply for a Vietnam visa if you are currently living in America or specifically Texas

I. Get your visa at the consulate in Houston

1. Submit directly at the Vietnam consulate in Houston, Texas

  • 01 visa application form
  • Original or a copy of passport with the main page with personal information of the passport holder. Passport must be valid for at least 06 months from the expected date of exit to Vietnam. For Vietnamese with a Permanent Resident Card (Green Card), it is recommended to apply for a 5-year visa.
  • 01 passport-sized photo 

2. Send your application and get the result by post

  • 01 visa application form 
  • The original or a copy of passport
  • 01 passport-sized photo
  • 01 paid postage envelope of the postal service with tracking number, clearly stating the recipient’s address (prepaid, self-addressed envelope for returning); suggest taking a tracking number to facilitate checking the status of envelope delivery. To be sure, we recommend that you use USPS, UPS, and FedEx courier tracking numbers. The Embassy is not responsible for lost mail envelopes and documents caused by your use of unsecured postal delivery services.
  • A pre-paid envelope for the service with a tracking number such as Express Mail (USPS) or USPS Priority with confirmation delivery, certified mail or FEDEX specified the recipient’s address for the consulate to return by post. For the security of your documents, please DO NOT use other mail delivery services.

Note: Pay the fee with Credit Card/ Visa Card/ Master Card when you come to apply at the consulate, ​​or by MONEY/ CASHIER’S CHECK or CERTIFIED CHECK to EMBASSY OF VIETNAM.

Other notes:

  • After receiving the visa, you need to check the information on the visa that is issued. In case of any errors or need to change, please contact the consulate to be resolved. If not, you are solely responsible for errors (if any).
  • In case you are applying for a group (from 02 people or more), you can send the application to the whole group in 01 envelope and pay visa fee for the whole group by 01 money order/cashier’s check/company check. Visa can be sent back to the whole group in 01 general envelope.
  • Duration of stay: Visa is issued for a period of time from the estimated date of entry into Vietnam provided by you on the declaration. 
  • The consulate reserves the right to ask the visa applicant for additional documents and other necessary information, as well as the right to refuse a visa without necessarily providing a reason or explanation.
