How to get Vietnam visa from the US

There are, at the moment, 3 options to get a visa to Vietnam from the US, depending on your nationality:

  • Applying for a visa at the Vietnamese Embassy (available for all travelers): Applicants need to contact the Vietnam Embassy in the US for information about the profile, processing time and visa fee.
  • Applying for a visa at the airport (also known as Vietnam visa on arrival) (available for those entering Vietnam by air): The applicant will apply for an online visa through a service provider, after which the applicant will receive a written approval visa agreement (also known as the official letter of permission to enter Vietnam), and will eventually be stamped visa upon arrival at the airport of Vietnam.
  • Applying for an e-visa for Vietnam (available for citizens of 81 countries only, entering Vietnam via one of 33 allowed ports of entry): Applicants will visit to submit the application form, and then get the e-visa letter within around 3 working days (if accepted).
